People have awakened throughout human history and become aware of a metaphysical dimension which is transcendent and immanent. This metaphysical ground of being has been known as God, Brahman, Tao, Great Spirit, Universal Spirit or the One: a Universal Field of Consciousness which is the fundamental and pervasive essence of the universe.
‘The perennial philosophy is the belief that all major world religions and spiritual traditions, despite their diverse outward forms, share a single, underlying, timeless truth or ultimate reality. This ‘perennial wisdom’ holds that this ultimate reality can be apprehended through mystical experiences of unity or oneness, which are common to mystics across different faiths. Aldous Huxley popularized this concept in his book The Perennial Philosophy. In essence, the perennial philosophy suggests that if you look past the superficial differences in religious doctrines and rituals, you will find a common, profound spiritual experience shared by mystics throughout history and across the globe’ (AI, 2025).
The evolution of human culture is characterised by periods or ages. These ages are known as yugas in Hinduism. We are currently living in a Kali Yuga which is a dark age of ignorance and materialism. Scientific materialism or Scientism has reduced our worldview to what is observable by the physical senses alone. Therefore we are conditioned to believe in a material and mechanistic universe governed by impartial laws. And a human being has been reduced to a finite physical body which is separate from the universe. This is a one-sided materialistic view which rejects the metaphysical or spiritual dimension because it cannot be seen or understood by the left brain which has become the dominant perspective in our worldview. The left brain has awareness of what is tangible: objective and physical. The right brain has awareness of what is intangible and metaphysical. The right brain has been repressed and undermined leaving us with an incomplete view of reality.
Science has become the oppressive religion of our time. Anything or anyone which challenges our scientific worldview is heretical. Our right brain is aware of a greater reality in which everything is connected by a universal energy field. Our spirit is part of this universal and metaphysical energy field which permeates the universe. However, science and spirituality are meeting in quantum physics. The Quantum Field is a fundamental underlying universal field and quantum entanglement is a property of universal connectedness.
Periods of spiritual decay are followed by periods of spiritual renewal. Sentinels awaken and rediscover the timeless truths about existence. Our soul ascends through many incarnations. Evolution in the natural world is accompanied by spiritual evolution. Our soul is given an opportunity to grow and evolve with each incarnation. Ascension is achieved when a soul is freed from reincarnation on the physical plane and continues its journey in the energy planes. Ascension is the goal of evolution on this planet and the Earth is destined to become an ascended planet with our combined efforts.
